Jeffrey H. Dorfman, Ph.D.
Jeffrey H. Dorfman is Professor of Applied Economics at The University of Georgia where he also serves as Director of the Land Use Studies Initiative. Prof. Dorfman is currently co-editor of the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, the top academic journal for research on agricultural, resource, and applied economics. His research foscuses on two areas: applied statistical analysis of economic and regulatory problems and the economics of land use, land preservation, land development, and land regulation. He has published a book, Bayesian Economics through Numerical Methods (Springer-Verlag, 1997) and over fifty academic journal articles in such outlets as the Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Econometrics, Land Use Policy, American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Journal of Regulatory Economics, and Journal of Productivity Analysis. Prof. Dorfman is a national expert on the economics of land use, preservation, development patterns, and regulation, working on these topics with both private developers and state and local governments. He is also a frequent op-ed contributor to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
